How To Make Your Weight Loss Goal Stick

Here’s 10 questions you should ask yourself BEFORE you set a weight loss goal for belly fat loss and to achieve weight loss success.

Spend some time now to ask yourself these questions. Answer them honestly – no one has to see them but you.

We all have those days when sticking to any commitment you've made to yourself feels impossible.

I suggest that you write down these 10 questions along with your answers in your diet journal (remember to date it) so that you can see them – especially on those days when you’re finding it difficult to stick to that weight loss meal plan...

Yes...we all have those days!

1. What do you want to accomplish?

For example, how many pounds do you want to lose? What waist circumference or dress size would you feel is ideal for you?

2. What are your reasons for setting this particular weight loss goal?

For example, is it to improve your health? Or perhaps to look and feel better in your clothes? Both?

3. What results are you’re looking for?

What do you want to achieve in the next week?...two weeks, etc?

4. What do you need to do emotionally?

What's your state of mind as you begin? From which perspective are you approaching this? Is it positive or negative?

Listen to your own "self talk"...

Remember, it’s about loving and accepting your body at whatever stage you find yourself.

5. What steps will you need to take to accomplish your goal?

How will you approach it exactly? Will you first begin your weight loss diet plan, then incorporate an exercise plan at home…or a gym?

6. Is your weight loss goal realistic?

If you’re best body weight is 140 lbs., don’t go for 110 lbs.

I know I’ve already mentioned this – it was Step # 4 in Smart Goal Setting Guidelines.

It’s worth mentioning again as I’ve seen so many women fail for this reason only. Setting an unrealistic goal inevitably sets you up for failure.

7. Are there any obstacles that you can foresee that may hinder your success?

You want to hit the ground running and not get tripped up by any unforeseen obstacles or surprises that may sabotage your efforts midway.

This point ties in with # 9 below.

8. How will you overcome them?

Are there foods, people or places you need to avoid? Do your best to avoid these temptations especially in the early stages.

Once you’ve created some momentum and have seen some positive results these temptations will become...well, less 'tempting’.

9. What resources will you need?

Put together what you need beforehand….healthy foods, exercise equipment, memberships, support, etc….

10. Will you need help for any of the above steps?

Do you have a supportive friend or two available? If not, why not start your own weight loss support group with your friends?

Consider hiring a personal trainer as a group for a few sessions as well…it’s cheaper than a one on one session most times and I know of several women who have done this. They loved it!

Finally, I’m sure that you’ve heard that it takes about 21 days to form a new habit.

With this in mind, I suggest that you give yourself at least a month before you come back and review all your answers again and to see how you’re doing.

You can make any changes or tweaks to your plan of action then too.

This is how weight loss success stories begin….

Assuming that you’ve taken the time to ask yourself these questions, it’s now time to put your weight loss goal into action for fast belly fat loss.

Take the first step and begin creating some momentum!

That momentum along with some positive results will keep you motivated and on track to achieve your final weight loss goal.
