It really comes down to a simple mathematic equation that goes like this - Too many calories + not enough activity = excess belly fat.

Ironically, in order to lose weight, you must eat.

There are approximately 3,500 calories in one pound of fat.

So you need to create a calorie deficit (through a combination of diet and exercise) of approximately 3,500 calories each week to create a weight loss of 1 to 1 ½ pounds weekly.

To lose weight most women should eat about 1,200 – 1,500 calories per day, but to calculate how many calories YOU need personally, I suggest you calculate your personal BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) , then subtract 250-300 from it (to create a calorie deficit) and eat close to that amount of calories daily.

Muscle tissue burns more calories than fat, so the more lean muscle tissue you have, the easier it will be to maintain your weight in the future.

If you haven’t been exercising daily, start slowly.

Aim for at least 30 min. of activity each day and build that up to one hour as your endurance and fitness level increases.

Even a brisk 30 minute walk daily can burn up to an additional 250-300 calories and speed up your fat loss results significantly.
