The Best Exercise To Lose Belly Fat
Best calorie burning belly fat exercises and activities to lose belly fat FAST!
The best exercise to lose belly fat and what worked most effectively for me incorporated three types of physical activities.
While regular physical activities are important for everyone, it’s absolutely crucial for avoiding weight gain during menopause.
Believe me, there’s nothing special about me other than the fact that I was struggling with belly fat loss and didn’t begin to incorporate an exercise weight loss program into my life until my mid 30’s.
So if you’re a ‘late bloomer’ like me, I know these types of physical activities will be effective in helping you lose stomach fat too.
Best Exercise To Lose Belly Fat: Resistance Training
The best exercise programs always include some sort of resistance training. It’s my absolute favorite type of activity and what I found helped me lose belly fat fast.
In my opinion, resistance training is one of the most effective types of belly fat exercises. It’s definitely at the top of the list of the best exercise to lose belly fat.
I encourage you to incorporate some form of resistance exercise into your fitness plan. Of course, always check with your doctor to make sure it's right for you.
Yes, you can say I’m a true fan. That’s because it works.
All the “aerobics classes” I did over the course of YEARS to lose my belly fat paled in comparison to the results I was able to achieve by incorporating only 20 - 30 minutes daily of resistance training in a few months!
Strength training (aka resistance training) increases lean muscle mass, (remember we lose lean muscle as we age), helps speed up metabolism, (increases your body’s ability to burn calories faster), and helps burn more fat.
I’m not talking about lifting weights like some hulking body builder!
Instead, I suggest you use lighter 3, 5, 8 or 10 pound weights, and do more repetitions of each movement.
There are several ways that you can approach resistance training:
First, there is some great home gym equipment that you can purchase.
In my case, for example I found that my neck and back muscles were easily strained when I did ab crunches so I investigated different types of ab exercise machines and eventually bought one.
It didn’t give me instant six pack abs, however it did make doing ab crunches so much easier and relieved any strain, so I was able to do lots more ab crunches.
A second option is to sign up for a few personal training sessions at your local gym – you can do that with or without the gym membership.
A personal trainer can design a weight loss exercise program for you and teach you the best exercise to lose belly fat that is specific to your needs and/or limitations.
They can show you how to properly lift lighter hand-held weights (2 – 10 lbs.) or work with rubber resistance bands or other smaller pieces of equipment that you can then easily buy and use at home.
This way you can work out on your own and know how to execute each exercise properly.
Finally, there are some great weight loss exercise DVD’s that can be purchased online. They often include all the instructions needed and are a great addition for variety. I have a few personal favorites I’ll share.
Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat: Cardiovascular Activity
Cardiovascular activities help to increase and improve your heart rate, strengthen your cardiovascular system and get your blood circulating.
Be sure to start off slowly, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while.
Take a look at the Calorie Burning Chart below for best calorie burning exercises and activities to lose belly fat.
I put together this calorie burning chart to give you an "approximate" idea of how many calories each activity burns based on your body weight.
The idea here is not to become a “warrior” but to slowly increase the time and intensity of your activity to allow your body the time it needs to adapt without straining or injuring yourself.
Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat: Whole body stretching
Whole body stretching helps to improve and maintain flexibility…something we lose as we age.
Its main function (and a good reason to incorporate it into your weight loss exercise program) is to help strengthen core muscle groups – especially your upper and lower abdominal muscles that support the torso and to maintain flexibility, stability and balance.
Pilates, yoga, calisthenics, and tai chi fit into this category.
Some of us (me included) are just not very flexible. In fact, that’s what kept me away from joining a local yoga class for many years. I was about as flexible as a wooden board!
What I did find was that by doing a sloooow stretch that felt like it was just at the “edge” of discomfort (not pain) and holding that – in time, that “edge” became further away as my body became increasingly flexible.
Stretching is never something you should push to the point of pain – forget about that silly ‘no pain, no gain’ stuff you keep hearing particularly when it comes to whole body stretching. It doesn’t apply.
The best exercise to lose belly fat is a mixture of whole body stretching along with resistance training and some cardio all done at a moderate intensity level several times weekly.

Glycogen is your body's main source of stored energy. It’s made from glucose from excess carbohydrates. Glycogen is stored primarily in your liver and muscles.
The reason this is important for you to know?
During the first 20 minutes of exercise, this is what your body is burning as a primary source of energy.
Glycogen – not fat. Surprised?
This is a trick many bodybuilders use for maximum fat burning. It increases fat loss tenfold! Furthermore, your body will continue to burn fat for hours after your work out!
How’s that for time well spent? You want to get the maximum benefit of exercise, right?
Did I mention? Always check with your doctor before you begin any type of exercise program to make sure it’s right for you.
