Does coconut oil reduce belly fat?
First, let me give you a better understanding of how Coconut Oil Weight Loss actually works.
I’ll try to keep it simple, I promise.
Coconut Oil Weight Loss – One of the Best Ways To Increase Metabolism
Coconut oil is classified as a “good fat” and contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCT).
In fact researchers at McGill University in Montreal, Canada advocate the use of fats rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) to treat and prevent obesity.
They’re not the only ones who are extolling the benefits of coconut oil and coconut oil weight loss.
From Bruce Fife, N.D. of the Coconut Research Center on coconut oil weight loss:
“In a recent study published in the Journal of Nutrition researchers reviewed all the published studies to date on MCT and weight management. These studies demonstrated that diets containing MCT result in an increase in energy, a rise in metabolism, increase burning of calories, decrease in food consumption, lower body fat mass, and reduce body weight.(1) Because of these effects, the authors of this study recommend using oils containing MCT, such as coconut oil, as a means to lose excess body fat, control weight, and even treat obesity.”
Most of the fats we consume daily are made up of long-chain triglycerides (LCT). Coconut oil, on the other hand is made up of medium chain triglycerides (MCT).
That means that the smaller MCT found in coconut oil digest rapidly enough that your body is able to use them almost immediately as a source of energy rather than store them away inside fat cells for later use.
Because of that, they don’t contribute to weight gain either.
“Recent subject groups studied in the South Pacific for their regular use of coconut oil in the diet exhibited low incidences of coronary artery disease and low serum cholesterol levels.” (2)
This is largely because MCT are used up rapidly in the body (much like carbohydrates) and they don’t circulate in the bloodstream as do other fats.
Coconut Oil Weight Loss – Coconut Oil to Lose Belly Fat
Coconut oil is one of the best metabolism boosting foods you can include in your diet plan to help you lose belly fat fast.
Thermogenesis is the creation of heat in your body. Because coconut oil has powerful thermogenic properties, it increases fat burning, helps you burn more calories and helps to reduce appetite naturally.
In fact, if you include coconut oil in your meal, the entire meal will be burned faster and your metabolism will stay revved up for up to 24 hours afterwards!
So not only will you feel more energetic …you’ll also continue to burn calories for many hours afterwards!
Coconut Oil Weight Loss and Thyroid
Coconut oil also supports healthy thyroid function. It’s said to be the oil of choice for those who suffer from low thyroid function because of its ability to stimulate and increase metabolism.
Helps You Feel Full Longer
Another coconut oil benefit is its ability to lower calorie intake. Because it’s more satisfying than other fats, it leaves you feeling fuller longer, so you’ll tend to eat less as a result.
Coconut oil tastes good and doesn’t overpower your foods. It can also be heated to high temperatures (unlike olive oil) so it’s perfect for sautéing.
Why not try mixing half butter and half coconut oil the next time you make scrambled eggs?
What to Look For When Buying Coconut Oil
Avoid hydrogenated varieties of this oil. Hydrogenation creates the trans fatty acids (TFAs), which have been proven to cause the elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood.
Also, avoid the term "bleached" and "deodorized" as the processes used to bleach and deodorize may add undesirable chemical components to the oil.
These substances are not present in extra virgin or expeller pressed coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil smells mildly of coconut but if you don’t like the smell of coconut choose expeller-pressed instead.
Store your coconut oil in a cook, dark area. You may refrigerate your oil if you like, but it is not necessary to maintain freshness.
Does coconut oil reduce belly fat?
It seems so. You can increase your metabolism and lose stomach fat by simply switching the type of oil you use in your meal preparation.
